Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) have been introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of buildings.

If you are buying or selling a home you now need an Energy Performance certificate by law. From October 2008 EPC’s are required whenever a building is built, sold or rented out. The certificate provides 'A' to 'G' ratings for the building, with 'A' being the most energy efficient

The EPC gives a measure of your homes annual fuel usage and recommends measures to help reduce your homes energy consumption. The rating only take into account the building and its services, domestic appliances (washing machines, microwave ect) are not taken into consideration. This will enable people to make more informed decisions relating to the energy efficiency of a property and the ongoing costs of fuel. Our experience within the industry has given us the knowledge to offer exceptional advice. We have built our reputation on excellent service, quick delivery, and flexibility to meet individual customers' needs The objective of obtaining an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is to comply with the new Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) directives implemented in the UK

Only an Accredited energy assessor can produce an EPC, alongside the graphs is an associated report which suggests improvements that would make a building more energy efficient if implemented. These suggestions are an indication only and do not have to be implemented. At Declan James all of our energy assessors are Elmhurst accredited and follow strict codes of practice.

Our staff will analyse how homes are constructed, insulated, heated and ventilated, and the type of fuel being used in the property. The EPC is mainly a visual inspection over the property inside and out, with access being required to the loft. (Our assessors bring there own ladders to appointment)
